eBay VeRO Notice (NOCI)

eBay enforces IP through its Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) program, and the filing instrument is the Notice of Claimed Infringement (NOCI). This template gives you the supporting wording; eBay expects the NOCI on its own form, submitted with your rights documentation. Accuracy matters more on eBay than most platforms — repeated invalid claims can suspend your VeRO standing.

When to use this template

  • eBay listings sell counterfeits of your product, use your copyrighted photos or text, or misuse your trademark
  • You can identify the correct reason code — counterfeit, unauthorized copy, or trademark misuse are different claims
  • Genuine used/resale items generally cannot be removed (first-sale doctrine) unless materially different or counterfeit

How to use it

  1. 1

Download and complete eBay's NOCI form

eBay requires its own NOCI document, submitted per its VeRO instructions. Use this template's wording in the form's fields; attach trademark registrations where claimed.

  2. 2

Use eBay item numbers, not just URLs

Each listing's item number is the identifier eBay's team works from. Screenshot listings before filing.

  3. 3

    File per regional site

eBay.com, eBay.co.uk, eBay.de and others require separate submissions. Counterfeit sellers commonly cross-post regions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove someone reselling my genuine product on eBay?

Generally no — the first-sale doctrine permits resale of authentic goods. Exceptions: the item is counterfeit, materially different from authorized product, or the listing copies your photos/text (a copyright claim against the listing content, not the sale).

What happens after eBay accepts a NOCI?

The listing is removed, the seller notified with your stated reason, and repeat offenders face selling restrictions. Sellers can dispute, so keep your evidence organized.

Do I have to join VeRO before reporting?

Your first NOCI effectively begins your VeRO relationship. Consistent, accurate filings build standing; sloppy or overreaching ones damage it.
